Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Jeannie Allan Wilkie was born on 18 May 1867 in Largs, Ayrshire, Scotland – the daughter of John Lamb Wilkie, a coachman, and Ann Reid.
Jeannie emigrated to Otago with her family in 1883 on the Trevelyan. She married George Martin Marshall, a manufacturing chemist, on 17 July 1889 at her parent’s house in Lees St, Dunedin.
They had four children when, on 15 May 1902, Jeannie died while giving birth to a stillborn daughter.
She is buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
