Catherine/Kate Keogh was born about 1854 – she married John Mason in Birmingham, England in 1873 and they had three children before they emigrated to Otago in 1879 on the Auckland - Catherine’s family had come five years earlier.
They settled in Anderston, Roslyn, Dunedin where John worked as a skin buyer and they had a further six children, two who died in infancy.
This is where Catherine signed the suffrage petition and where John died in 1935.
Catherine died the following year on 12 July, they are both buried in the Southern Cemetery.
