Isabella Strang was born in Victoria, Australia in 1860 - the daughter of James Strang, a carpenter, and Barbara Lawson Brown. (See 42 Mrs Strang)
The family came to Otago in the early 1860s and settled in Dunedin.
Isabella married Hector Alexander McBeath, a printer, on 19 December 1883 and they had three children.
When Isabella signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Grosvenor St, Kensington, Dunedin.
Isabella died on 3 June 1943 and Hector died in 1952, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
