Euphemia Duncan was born about 1830 in Scotland.

She married William McClue, a silk dyer, in 1856 in Glasgow and they had eight children, one who died in infancy.

The family emigrated to Otago in 1874 on the Parsee and settled in Dunedin.

When Euphemia signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Broughton St, South Dunedin.

Euphemia died on 14 December 1899 and William died in 1908 – they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
