Catherine Keating was born about 1854. She married Robert McKitterick, a stoker, in 1872 and two years later the couple sailed for Otago on the Hindostan.
They settled in Dunedin and had nine children and when Catherine signed the suffrage petition they were living in McGlashan St, St Kilda.
Robert died at their home in 1930 and Catherine died on 25 July 1932, they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
