Betsy Jane/Elizabeth Garthy was born about 1844 in Scotland. She married James McNab, a dairyman, in New Zealand in 1876. They had five children.
The McNab family lived in Mornington, Dunedin. James died in 1915 and Elizabeth/Betsy died on 21 December 1924. They are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
