Elizabeth Bain Munro was born on 9 October 1870 in Wick, Caithness, Scotland – the daughter of David Munro and Janet Mackay.
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1875 on the Invercargill and they settled in Dunedin.
Elizabeth married John McPherson, a carpenter, on 29 August 1890 in St Stephen’s parish in North Dunedin and they had nine children.
When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Signal Hill Road, Opoho.
John died at their home in 1947 and Elizabeth died on 19 March 1956 – they were both cremated.
