Notes

This is almost certainly Margaret Morison (nee Clark), mother of Harriet Russell Morison, the first vice-president of the Tailoresses' Union and founding member of the Women's Franchise League. Margaret was married to James Morison, a master tailor and she travelled to New Zealand with her family from Ireland in 1874.

A biography of Harriet Russell Morison (1862 - 1925) appears in the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography

Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Margaret Clarke was born about 1819 in Donegal, Ireland. She was married to James Morison, a tailor, and they had at least six children.

The family emigrated to Otago in 1874 on the Auckland and settled in Dunedin.

James died in 1892 and Margaret died on 15 July 1900. They are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
