Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Nancy Elliott was born about 1845 in Ireland.

She married Patrick McGee/Magee on 13 November 1857 in Bushmills, County Coleraine, Ireland.

They had eight children, two who died in infancy, before the family emigrated to Otago in 1883 on the Wellington.

They settled at Fairfield where Nancy signed the suffrage petition and Patrick worked as a coal miner.

Patrick died at their daughter’s home in Dunedin in 1919 and Nancy died on 3 December the following year at another daughter’s home.

They are buried together in the Green Island Cemetery.
