Margaret Henderson was born about 1836 in Felling, Durham.

She married, coal miner, William Noble in Durham in 1858 and they had nine children, three who died in infancy, before the family boarded the Geraldine Paget bound for Westland.

Their last child was born on the voyage – he died aged 8 months.

William worked for a short time at the Brunnerton colliery before taking up gold mining.

When Margaret signed the suffrage petition they were living in Cobden.

William died in 1903 and Margaret died on 23 August 1918 – they are buried in the Karoro Cemetery.
