Jane Coumbe was born in 1850 in St Austell, Cornwall – the daughter of James Coumbe, a tin stream agent, and Mary Rowse.
She married John Pascoe on 7 June 1870 in Treverbyn parish and they had seven children, three who died in infancy.
In 1881 Jane was living in St Austell with her four remaining children and John had gone to New Zealand.
Jane followed with the children in 1885 arriving in Westland on the Aorangi.
They had a further three children after Jane arrived in the country and they were living at Rutherglen, near Greymouth, when Jane signed the suffrage petition.
John died in 1933 and Jane died in Greymouth on 3 May 1936 – they are buried together in the Karoro Cemetery.
