Jessie Mollison was born about 1832 in Marykirk, Kincardineshire, Scotland – the daughter of Benjamin Mollison, a shoemaker, and Janet.

She married John Rennet, a shipwright, on 28 April 1873 in Laurenkirk, Kincardineshire and they had a daughter the following year.

They came to Otago in the early 1880s and settled in Dunedin.

When Jessie signed the suffrage petition they were living in Frederick Street.

Jessie died on 10 February 1907 and John died in 1923, they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
