Emily Louisa Wakelin was born in New Zealand in 1870 – the daughter of William James Wakelin, a carpenter and painter, & Naomi Eldridge. (See 94 Naomi Wakelin)
Emily married James Davidson Richmond, a butcher, in 1892.
They had two children and when Emily signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Melville Rd (off Great King St), Dunedin.
Emily died on 17 May 1895 at the age of 23.
She is buried in the Northern Cemetery.
James re-married in 1901, he died in 1951 and is buried with his second wife in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
