Allison McMillan was born about 1834, she married Montgomery Cunningham Richmond, a butcher, on 9 January 1865 in Waikouaiti north of Dunedin.
They had six children and lived in Waikouaiti until Montgomery was declared bankrupt in 1870.
The family later moved to Palmerston and Montgomery died in 1883.
When Allison signed the suffrage petition she was living in London St, Dunedin.
She died in Dannevirke on 8 August 1919, she is buried in the Dannevirke Cemetery.
