Josephine Crookshanks was born in 1868 in New Zealand – the daughter of Joseph Crookshanks, a mariner, and Margaret Forsyth.
Josephine married James Robson, a carpenter, on 10 July 1889 at Knox Church in Dunedin.
They had five children and when Josephine signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Longwood Avenue, Mornington.
Josephine died at her home on 30 April 1922 and James died in 1938 – they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
