Sarah Annie Philpot was born about 1853 in London, England.
She emigrated to Victoria, Australia where she married Charles Nichols about 1853.
According to Sarah’s death certificate Charles died before she married Thomas Kellett, a groom, in Dunedin, New Zealand on 5 August 1862.
They had four sons before Thomas died of heart disease in 1869, their youngest son was only about three weeks old at the time. Thomas is buried in the Southern Cemetery.
When Sarah signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Rothesay, Dunedin.
She died on 28 November 1899 and is buried in the Northern Cemetery.
