Sarah Hughes was born about 1839.
She married, brickmaker, Robert Cox on October 21st 1865 in Dunedin.
They had 2 sons, one who appears to have died in infancy, before Robert died in 1878.
Sarah remarried in 1880 to William Arthur White, a miner.
When she signed the suffrage petition Sarah was living with her son in Andersons Bay – there is no sign of William in the records after their marriage.
Sarah died on September 29th 1908 – she is buried with Robert in the Southern Cemetery.
