Frances/Fanny Wallace was born about 1842, probably in Scotland.
She emigrated to New Zealand in the early 1860s and she married Carlo Schiavi, an Italian fisherman, on 11 March 1865 in Timaru.
They moved to the West Coast where they had two children and when Fanny signed the suffrage petition, they were living in Cobden.
Sometime after this Fanny and Carlo separated and he moved to Auckland.
Fanny died in Waimangaroa on 3 August 1910 – she is buried in the Waimangaroa Cemetery, Buller.
Carlo remarried in 1900 as a widower and had a further six children. He died in 1912 in Auckland and is buried in the Waikumete Cemetery.
