Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Grace Dow was born about 1813 in Blairgowrie, Perthshire, Scotland. She married David Scott, a saddler, about 1839 and they had five children.
The family emigrated to Otago in the 1860s and settled in Dunedin, living in Elm Row. David died there in 1879 and Grace was still living in the family home when she signed the suffrage petition. She died at her son’s home in Outram on 1 August 1906, aged 93. Grace is buried with her husband and family in the Northern Cemetery.
