Elizabeth Doyle was born about 1862 in Ireland - she emigrated to New Zealand about 1880.
Elizabeth married Thomas Henshall Shadwell, a storeman, in 1886 and they had seven children, one who died in infancy.
When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Grange St, Dunedin.
They later moved to Mornington where Thomas died in July 1937, he is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
Elizabeth died on 26 September the same year, she is buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
