Euphemia Wilson was born about 1836 in Scotland.

She married James Simpson on 6 June 1856 in Temple, Midlothian and they had a son the following year.

The family emigrated to New Zealand and the next of their further seven children was born in 1860.

James worked as a sexton and the family lived in York Place, Dunedin where Euphemia signed the suffrage petition.

James died in 1912 and Euphemia died on 19 November 1914.

They are buried in the Southern Cemetery with three of their children who had predeceased them.
