Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Ann Caplin Nash was born about 1832 in Otford, Kent – daughter of Staple Nash & Elizabeth Reed.

Ann married Samson/Samuel Summerell, a carpenter, in 1854 in Sussex. They had two children while living in Sussex and emigrated to Otago in the early 1860’s.

They had five more children in New Zealand. Samson died in 1892 at their home in Musselburgh, Dunedin.

Ann died in Melbourne, Australia in 1925, where her daughter was living. It is not known where she is buried.

Ann C Summerell is buried in Brighton Cemetary in Melbourne. The head stone gives her death as 1924, although her death certificate iindicates 1925.

The Street she lived on in Musselburgh was actually New Street.
