Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.

Annie Taylor Randall was born about 1834 in Ireland – the daughter of George Randall, a master mariner.

She married David Estler Blacke, a clerk, on October 20th 1856 in Belfast and they had 5 children.

In 1875 the family emigrated to Otago on the Earl of Zetland and they settled in Dunedin.

Two of their sons died in the 1880’s and when Annie signed the suffrage petition she was living with her remaining children in Heriot Row while David was working in Invercargill.

In 1898 she travelled to London with her daughter Annie who was studying art.

David died in 1899, he is buried in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.

Annie died on November 19th 1904 in Chelsea, her burial place is unknown.
