Isabella Pirie was born on July 25th1854 in Rhynie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, the daughter of John Pirie, a farmer, and Isabella Howie.
She married William Brewster, a ploughman, on March 27th 1874 in Rhynie. Later that year they emigrated to Otago on the Cartsburn.
They had 10 children, and when Isabella signed the suffrage petition they were living in Palmerston.
Isabella died at her home on June 19th 1903 and William died in Oamaru Hospital in 1909. They are buried together in the Oamaru Cemetery.
