Louisa Ann Bell was born in 1858 in New Zealand – the daughter of George Timothy Bell, an ironmoulder, and Louisa Lumley Green.
She married William Henry Hale, a bricklayer, in 1882 and they had five children – one who died in infancy.
When Louisa signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Hanover St, Dunedin.
Louisa died at the Dunedin Hospital on 22 April 1895.
William re-married in 1898 – he died in 1933.
They are buried with their infant son and William’s second wife in the Northern Cemetery.
