Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Christina Murray was born in 1869 in New Zealand, the daughter of Donald Murray, a blacksmith and wheelwright, and Elizabeth.
Christina lived in Temuka until her father died in 1875. The following year, her mother re-married and the family lived in Queenstown.
They shifted to Dunedin in 1889. On 26 January 1892, at the Trinity Church, Dunedin Christina married Wilbert Hedley Stafford Pearce, a storekeeper.
They had two children and lived, at first, in Queenstown, where Christina signed the suffrage petition. Her mother, Mrs Elizabeth Richards of Dunedin, also signed the petition.
Later Christina and her family moved to Dunedin.
Christina died on 11 October 1943 and Wilbert died in 1944. They are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery, Dunedin.
