Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Margaret Darroch Catchpole was born in 1865 in New Zealand – the daughter of Charles George Catchpole, a dairyman, and Margaret Darrach.

She married William Henry Wilson, a carpenter, in 1888 and they had eight children, one who died in infancy.

When Margaret signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Castle St, Dunedin.

In later life they moved to Christchurch where William died in 1928 and Margaret died on 7 May 1946 – they are buried together in the Sydenham Cemetery.
