Stephania Scarengi/Scorringe was born in New Zealand in 1869 – the daughter of Francesco Scarengi /Scorringe and Louisa Baker.
On 8 March 1890 she married Walter Evans Winter at her parent’s house in Beach Rd, Timaru.
They had two daughters before Walter died in 1891, aged 24.
Stephania remarried in 1893 to Henry Coomerang Wakelin, a contractor, and when she signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Kaikorai, Dunedin.
Stephania and Henry had three children.
Henry died in 1939 and Stephania died on 20 August 1954, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
