Magdalena/Madge McDonald Walker was born in New Zealand in 1865 - the daughter of Archibald Walker and Joan Adams. (See 161 Mrs Walker)

She married James Whyte Watkins, a storeman, in 1888 and they had six children, two who were stillborn.

When Magdalena signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Calton Tce, North East Valley, Dunedin.

James died in 1939 and Magdalena died on 21 April 1943, they were both cremated and their ashes are interred together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
