Alice Hill was born about 1850.
She emigrated to New Zealand and married brickmaker Robert Young in 1876.
They had five children and when Alice signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Macandrew Rd, South Dunedin.
In the 1920s they moved to Stirling in South Otago where they took up farming.
Robert died at their home in Inch Clutha in 1928.
After Robert’s death Alice returned to Dunedin.
She died at her daughter’s home on 17 November 1939 and is buried with Robert in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
