Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Agnes McKay was born about 1849 in Kilmarnock, Scotland.

She came to New Zealand and she married James Murray, a farmer, on 6 September 1869 in the Warepa Parish.

They had 10 children and when Agnes signed the suffrage petition they were living at Nugget Bay.

They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1919 with a large gathering in the Port Molyneux Hall.

James died in 1927 & Agnes died the following year at their home 'Pine Cottage' on 12 May, they are buried together in the Port Molyneux Cemetery.
