Ellen/Nellie Harrison was born in 1870 in Sussex, England – the eldest daughter of Edward Harrison, an excavator, and Sarah Butt Boyt. (See 246 S Harrison)
She emigrated to New Zealand with her family in the late 1870s and by the 1880s they were living in Greymouth.
Ellen married Arthur James Riddiford, a sawmiller, in 1890 and they had three daughters.
Ellen signed the suffrage petition in Greymouth before moving to Blackball around 1900.
She died at her home in Blackball on 15 July 1937 and Arthur died in 1944. They are buried together in the Karoro Cemetery, Greymouth.
