Ellen/Nellie Thomson was born about 1859.
She married Aaron Robert Blomfelt, a labourer from Finland, on September 29th 1884 in Dunedin. They had a daughter the following year.
In July 1886 Aaron “was found dead against a fence at Pine Hill, near town last night. He appeared to be in good health when he left home at dinner time. Heart disease is supposed to be the cause of death”. He is buried in the Northern Cemetery.
Ellen remarried on November 25th 1891 to George Frederick Snowden, a bootmaker and widower with five children.
Ellen and George had a further three children. When she signed the suffrage petition they were living in Belleknowes.
George died in 1910. He is buried in the Northern Cemetery with his first wife.
Ellen died on May 10th 1942 at her daughter’s home in Auckland. She is buried in the Waikumete Cemetery.
