Eleanor Henrietta/Nellie Connell was born in 1866 in New Zealand – the daughter of William Connell and Elizabeth.
She married Robert Grounds, a seaman, in 1891 and when she signed the suffrage petition Nellie was living in Dundas St, Dunedin.
Robert died in 1945 and Nellie died at her home on 17 June 1947, they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
