Olive North was born in 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of Alexander John North, a shoemaker, and Mary Sophia Christer. (See 142 Mrs North)

When Olive signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Main Rd, North East Valley, Dunedin working as a dressmaker.

She married Richard Henry East in 1905 and they had four children.

Olive died on 12 May 1942 and Richard died in 1963 – they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
