Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley:

Patience Sophia Mary Given was born about 1861 in New Zealand – the daughter of Robert Given, a builder, and Patience Careless. Her sister Euphemia also signed the 1893 suffrage petition.

Patience married Alexander Hendry, a doctor, in 1894. They had no children.

Alexander died in Dunedin in 1938 and Patience died on 29 June 1939. They are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
