Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Agnes Duncan was born about 1834 in Banchory, Devenick, Kincardineshire, Scotland – the daughter of James Duncan and Mary Greig.

She emigrated to Otago in 1849 on the Mooltan with two of her brothers.

She married James Pollock on 3 August 1855 in Dunedin. They had ten children, three of who died in infancy.

James died at their home in Arthur St, Dunedin in 1883, the family later lived in Duncan St where Agnes signed the suffrage petition.

She died on 11 October 1920 and is buried with James in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
