Priscilla Anna Lowry was born in Cornwall, England in 1856 – the daughter of Bennet James Lowry, a shoemaker, and Adeline George Rashleigh.
As an infant she sailed to Victoria, Australia with her family then to Otago in 1863.
When Priscilla signed the suffrage petition she was living in Palmerston, north of Dunedin, working as a schoolmistress.
She married fellow teacher James Grant in 1895 – they lived in Whanganui where Priscilla died in May 1931 and James died in 1945.
They are buried together in the Aramoho Cemetery, Whanganui.
