Annie Rose McHaffie was born about 1846 in Borgue, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland – the daughter of William McHaffie and Elizabeth Drummond.
Annie emigrated to New Zealand where she married John Frew Robertson, a carpenter, on 7 December 1870 in Port Chalmers.
They had five children and when Annie signed the suffrage petition they were living in Dundas St, Dunedin.
They later moved to Christchurch then to Wellington where Annie died on 4 February 1921.
John died in 1928 – they are buried together in the Karori Cemetery.
