A biography of Rachel Selina Reynolds (1838 - 1928) appears in the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography
Born Rachel Pinkerton, she was married to William Hunter Reynolds, a long-serving Otago Member of Parliament who had campaigned for the secret ballot and universal male suffrage in the 1870s.
Rachel was cremated and her ashes are interred in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
