Rebecca Josephine Drumm was born in New Zealand in 1865, the daughter of John Drumm, a farrier, and Jane Whelan.
In 1902, Rebecca was working as a barmaid in Christchurch. While there, she was fined for assaulting a former suitor who refused to pay back some money she was owed.
Rebecca married John Gibson Wood, a publican in 1903. They lived in the Ashley Hotel in Ashley, the Zetland Arms Hotel in Ashburton, the Commercial Hotel in Kirwee, and the Plough Hotel in Rangiora.
Rebecca died on 6 October 1945 at New Brighton, Christchurch. John died in 1953. They are both buried in the Ruru Lawn Cemetery, Christchurch.
