Alice Reeve/Reeves was born in Victoria, Australia about 1858.
She married George Reeves, a carpenter, in Victoria in 1885 and they had two children, one who died in infancy and the other was 'an invalid'.
By the time that Alice signed the suffrage petition the family had move to Gore where George worked as a cheesemaker.
He managed and owned several different factories in Southland until 1918 when he was declared bankrupt.
Alice died on 31 October 1925 - at the time of her death she was running a cheese factory.
George died in 1936 – they are buried together in the Gore Cemetery.
