Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Rose Hannah White was born about 1846, probably in England.
She emigrated to New Zealand with her husband John in the early 1870s and they had seven children after their arrival.
When Rose signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Hampden in North Otago.
John died in 1902 and Rose died on 22 July 1940, at her daughter’s home in Deborah Bay, Port Chalmers.
They are buried together in the Hampden Cemetery.
