Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Susan McKissock was born about 1846 in Girvan, Ayrshire, Scotland, the daughter of James McKissock, an innkeeper, and Ann Powel.

Susan came to New Zealand about 1864 and married Colin McKenzie Gordon, a clerk of the Supreme Court, in 1865.

They had eight children, two dying in infancy.

When Susan signed the suffrage petition, the family was living in York Place, Dunedin. Her daughter Nellie Gordon also signed the petition.

Colin died in 1901. Susan died on 15 June 1918. They are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery, Dunedin.
