Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Sarah Hannah Mutimer was born in 1868 in Ballarat, Victoria – the daughter of William Mutimer and Elizabeth McDermott.

After her father’s death in 1880 Sarah, her mother and siblings sailed for Otago.

She married William Faithful, a miner and dredge operator, in 1886 and they had five children, one who died in infancy.

The family lived in  Dunedin, Bendigo, Reefton and Greymouth – when Sarah signed the suffrage petition they were in Bendigo.

They returned to Dunedin about 1905 before they moved to London where William died in 1919.

Sarah died on 17 October 1958 in Tywardreath, Cornwall – she is buried with her son in the Tywardreath Cemetery.
