Susan Hunter Bagshaw was born around 1852 to parents Robert Hunter Jessieman Bagshaw and Elisabeth Bagshaw (nee Hunter), in Arbroath, Angus (Scotland). She immigrated to New Zealand in 1878 aged 25, accompanied by her younger sister Eliza Jessieman Bagshaw, aged 14. Both women were listed as Domestic Servants. Eliza signed Sheet 167 of the Petition.
Susan married Arthur James Law Scott in 1878 and had six children. She died in 1937, aged 85.
