Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.
Sarah Bole was born about 1845 in Dumfriesshire, Scotland – the daughter of David Bole, a woollen stocking maker, and Mary Park.
She married Samuel Pringle about 1869 and they sailed for New Zealand soon after accompanied by Sarah’s widowed father. They settled in Dunedin and had 11 children, two who died in infancy. When Sarah signed the suffrage petition they were living in Neil St, Green Island.
Samuel died in 1914 and Sarah died on 6 September 1928 – they are buried in the family grave in the Green Island Cemetery.
