Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Sarah Elliott was born about 1826 in Gloucestershire, England.

She married Isaac Wright on 21 August 1850 in Clapham, Surrey and a few years later they sailed for Victoria, Australia.

They had four children, two who died in infancy, before the family moved to New Zealand in 1862.

Isaac worked as a storekeeper in Cromwell until 1875 when they shifted to Dunedin.

When Sarah signed the suffrage petition they were living in Montpellier House in Mailer St, Mornington.

Isaac died at their home in 1899 and Sarah died on 14 October 1918 at Little Sisters of the Poor in Dunedin. They are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
