Sarah Ann Brown was born about 1872. She married William Henry Escott Fortune on 23 November 1892 in the Riverton Parish and when Sarah signed the suffrage petition they were living in Orepuki.
Their daughter was born in 1899 and Sarah died a few weeks later on 4 September, she is buried in the Orepuki Cemetery.
William re-married in 1901 and had a further two children.
He died in 1947 in Wellington and was cremated.
