Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Sarah Maxwell was born around 1859, and she married William Gibson in 1881 in New Zealand.

The family lived in Stafford St, Dunedin until about 1900 when they moved to Invercargill. They appeared in the newspaper in 1911 when their daughter Elizabeth died while jumping off a train. Her parents were on board under the influence of alcohol.

Sarah died in Invercargill on 8 January 1928 and William died in 1936. They are buried together in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.
